I'm Engaged!!! And so so so in LOVE! I am soon to be Mrs. Matthew Pearson on March 27th, 2010. I am so excited!! Matt and I met on a blind date April 11th, and haven't spent much time apart since then. Matt planned a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah for us (us meaning Mylie too) to go to Bryce Canyon, see Utah, go to Conference, oh and did I mention.. to propose to me?! I didn't see this one coming. For two weeks prior to this trip, he was trying to throw me off. I think the phrase " I'm in no rush" is my least favorite saying now. I couldn't understand why my boyfriend was stressed.. Friday was good, but all day driving. Mylie did awesome by the way. I love my 3 year old! Saturday came and he was on edge. We needed to go here, we needed to make it to dinner on time... Poor guy, if I only knew. See, he planned a "date night" for us. Hence Mylie had to stay with a family Matt knew really well. I wasn't too keen on the idea, but literally after meeting all 4 kids 7 and under and Kim and her husband I immediately felt comfortable. So, off to the restaurant we went. The Roof to be exact. A seat for two, window, overlooking the Salt Lake Temple, the City, and of course the best view in the house was sitting right across from me. It was Amazing! I couldn't stop telling him how much I loved him and truly enjoy his company. He went on to tell me the same and more. More stuff I think I will just keep to myself. :) After dinner Matt suggested we walk down in Temple square. The weather was Beautiful, 54 degrees with a slight breeze. Fall, Oh how I LOVE fall. As we were walking we both just kept saying how much fun we have together, how we love to be together. Then he starts to look at the wall. Yes wall. Saying all these random facts and opinions on the effort it took to build the wall. I was like "yah, a wall" great hun. As I pretended to be interested he said "Tanja! We have to do it" I said "Do what?" "A horse carriage ride!" We pretty much skipped to the carriage. Matt then asked about prices. I then went on about how it would be fun, but no way was he paying that much for a carriage ride. He looked at me and said, well you only live once. My favorite Movie that Matt and I watched in the first couple of weeks of dating was Charlie. That was the name of the Horse. So cute! I couldn't stop telling Matt, that this was the Best night of my life! I started to cry because I was so happy. Just to be with him. About 15 min into the ride we came to a stop. We stopped at a light and next to us a car full of guys. The driver about my Dad's age yelled out randomly to Matt and I " Propose to her!!! Just do it!!!" Matt and I started laughing, but all Matt could say jokingly was " The pressure of it all!". I thought to myself, man my boyfriend is really laying it on thick about not wanting to get married anytime soon. BUT, I was so in the moment, so happy I didn't care. Just being with him was enough. Another 15 min into the ride, Matt asked Angie to stop the carriage. I immediately thought Matt had to use the restroom so I asked if he was okay. He then turned around and faced me and got down on one knee and I started to yell, Are you kidding me? I mean really? Of course I was crying already and smiling while I was saying this. He then continued and I said YES, BEFORE he asked officially. Then he paused and said " I better make this official. WILL YOU MARRY ME TANJA MARIE HAAS?" Of course, I said YES again. The ring was custom made and the box that held the ring played slide show of him and I with our Songs.. Reasons to Love you by Meiko and I thought I loved you then by Brad Paisley. I cried and laughed, kissed him over and over and then quietly to myself, I thanked GOD. Everyone knew except me so phone calls made thereafter were anticipated but embraced with much excitement. We were officially engaged on October 3rd, 2009. It was Perfect. He is everything I want and more.
